Development & Production

The development of our NANOOK kayak kit took about 10 months. In an elaborate process we collected measurements of our traditionally built Greenland kayaks, incorporated experience values and thus created a first model in a hull design software. On several prototypes we tested the handling characteristics and adjusted construction details to the requirements of a customer-friendly kit as well as the requirements of CNC-production. Parallel to the prototyping-process, we created detailed photos, wrote the building instructions and thus produced a coherent step-by-step building manual that clearly describes the individual building steps. What was earlier done with a jigsaw during prototyping, we were finally able to implement on a CNC portal milling machine for the first time, from which we built the final prototype. Now we have the kit produced by a partner company in Wuppertal.
